The author Dr Jarman is a bioarchaeologist and field archaeologist specialising in the Viking Age and Viking Age women.
In the book, which is a riveting piece of historical detective work, Cat Jarman investigates how a Viking 'Carnelian' bead from twenty-first century England leads to eighth-century Baghdad, and proves that the Norse warriors travelled much further than originally thought.
