Midsummer Lunch, and welcome drinks, at Lincoln’s Inn on Monday, 24th June 2024, arrivals between 11.45am and noon
Together all four Nordic Societies in England - The Anglo-Danish Society, The Anglo-Finnish Society, The Anglo-Norse Society and The Anglo-Swedish Society - are organising a Midsummer Lunch on Monday, 24th June 2024 at Lincoln's Inn. The 24th June is of course the traditional Midsummer date before it was moved to the nearest Saturday.
The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, London WC2A 3TL (The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn (lincolnsinn.org.uk), is the oldest of the four Inns of Court, dating back to 1422. The Great Hall was opened by Queen Victoria in 1845, this fine Hall complet)e with Minstrels’ Gallery, striking fresco and ceiling of beautifully worked oak is described as one of the most impressive surviving buildings of its kind in London.
A 3-course lunch with welcome drinks reception is offered at £45.00 inclusive of VAT per person.
The welcome drink is Prosecco or non-alcoholic alternative at the East Terrace overlooking the Benchers Lawn with tables and chairs or in case of poor weather, in the bar area inside the Members Common Room (MCR).
The lunch is:
• Reserved table in Hall
• Starter (Chef’s Choice)
• Main course with side accompaniments (Chef’s choice)
• Dessert of the Day or Fruit
• Glass of House Wine (or soft drink alternative)
• Tea, Coffee & Tap Water
This is a set chef's choice menu – any additional items ordered on the day will be charged as per the Inn's standard menu prices. The menu changes on a weekly basis and it is uploaded to the Inn’s Website at 3 p.m. every Friday.
Please note the dress code for lunch in the Great Hall is business or lounge suits, court dress or smart casual dress.
We would gather at the East Terrace or Members Common Room at about 11.45 to 12.00 and then move upstairs to the Great Hall, where we will have a reserved table at 12.30. There is a place to leave small bags and coats both in the MCR and upstairs in the Great Hall.
Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and we can only accommodate guests if subscribing members of the Societies are fewer than the space available.
