The Anglo-Danish Society exists to promote closer understanding between the United Kingdom and Denmark by arranging lectures, outings, social gatherings and other events of interest to its members and their guests.

The Society enjoys the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen and Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark. It also has the active support of the Royal Danish Embassy and a number of Danish and British companies.

The Society administers scholarship funds which help Danish students to visit the UK or British students to visit Denmark for the purpose of advanced or post-graduate studies.

The Society welcomes applications for membership.




ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & DINNER

Please make a note in your diary for the AGM and Dinner in April. This is the occasion when Council reports to the ADS members on what it has been doing in the past year, including the scholarships awarded. We are organising a visit to the National Gallery on Friday 21 May 2010. Professor David Jackman, Head of the School of Fine Art at the university of Leeds, and curator of the Christen Koebke exhibition, will give A-DS members a private tour before giving a lecture from 18.30 to 19.30 (open to the public) Click heading for more details.



PREVIEW OF SOTHEBY'S SCANDINAVIAN SALE

We'll meet at Sotheby's, 34-35 New Bond Street, W1A 2AA at 11am on Sunday morning, 30 May 2010 to have a preview of their Scandinavian Sale which will be on Thursday 3 June 2010. One of Sotheby's knowledgeable staff will tell us about the works of art in the Sale. Click heading for details.
