KEW GARDENS (and optional Kew Archives)
Friday 18 June 2010 at 14.00
Kew Green, Richmond TW9
One can explore glasshouses, landscapes and 250 years of history at the world's most famous garden. Climb to the treetops, and experience the Xstrata Treetop Walkway (included), or if you prefer you can just take the 40-minute "hop-on/hop-off" tour on the Kew Explorer (just GBP4) - in any case we'll have a Guide to help us.
There are four lovely restaurants/cafes where we'll make a stop for a traditional afternoon tea (at your own expense). And, if you'd like to visit Kew Palace whilst you are here, you can buy a ticket for GBP5, or GBP4.50 concession.
The cost of entrance to the Gardens and the Guide is GBP15 per person - please respond by 24 May 2010 by e-mailing info@anglo-danishsociety.org.uk and posting your cheque to Anglo-Danish Society, 43 Maresfield Gardens, , London NW3 5TF.
Tel. 020 7794 8781.
An optional extra could be a visit to The National Archives, or "Kew Archives", at Bessant Drive, Richmond TW9 4AD.
If you are interested in visiting the Archives on the morning of 18 June 2010, there is a "New to Kew" session daily at 11.30 to introduce first-time visitors to the range of services available at The National Archives. There's no need to book and the session is free of charge. But if you want to look up some of your own history, and look at original documents, you'll need a reader's ticket, which you can get by bringing two forms of identification with you.
