WEEKEND IN YORK

York

The Anglo-Danish Society held a very enjoyable weekend in York, 9-11 October with the highlight being a gala dinner on Saturday evening.
Nearly 30 members and friends of the Society attended and enjoyed an evening full of conversation, laughter and song. The biggest cheer of the evening came when Peter Rasmussen announced the Danish football team's victory over Sweden!

We were fortunate to have the company of Iain Robertson and Margrethe Felter for part of the weekend. Iain Robertson, York Minster guide and chairman of the York Anglo Scandinavian Society, gave a fascinating tour of York Minster.

Margrethe Felter works as an archaeological conservator in York. She came with us to the Jorvik Viking Centre and was able to share with us her enthusiasm for working with Viking artefacts.

Many thanks go to Peter Rasmussen for not only arranging the event, but also for encouraging me to attend.I hope similar weekends can be arranged in the future because it was such a nice way to strengthen existing friendships and make new ones.
