VISIT TO THE THAMES BARRIER
THURSDAY 25 June 2009 at 2.30pm
 |
| Thames Barrier |
The outline of the world's largest movable flood barrier completed in 1982 is instantly recognisable and provides a vital defence for London against flooding.
We have arranged a private tour of the Information Centre with our own guide who will tell us about the Barrier, the River Thames and the work of the Environment Agency which is responsible for river defences. We'll then be taken along the riverfront to get a closer look at the Barrier.
You can take the Riverbus from Embankment to the Millenium Dome (45 minutes) and then a bus, and a short walk to the Information Centre - if you decide to take the riverbus we'll arrange to all take the same one. Alternatively, you can drive to the Information Centre, parking is available for GBP1.50.
To reserve a place on the visit please send your booking (name, address, contact details) with your cheque - GBP6 for members, GBP7.50 for non-members - to the Anglo-Danish Society, 43 Maresfield Gardens, London NW3 5TF.
