• ANGLO-DANISH SOCIETY'S ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Members are invited to attend the Society's 88th AGM to be held in the Embassy's Cafeteria. Keynote speaker following the meeting is Kasper Holten, Director of Opera at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.

• UK-EU SOCIETIES DIAMOND JUBILEE CONCERT
Thursday 19 April 2012 7.00pm to approx 9.15pm
A concert showcasing outstanding young musicians and singers selected by the Royal College of Music who will perform a mainly classical programme to celebrate the diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.

CONCERT AND DINNER - DRAPERS' HALL
We have again managed to secure tickets for a Concert and Dinner at the Drapers' Hall with dinner at 6pm and a concert from 7.15 to 9.30pm including a glass of wine during the interval. Click heading for details.

Do not miss HE Ambassador Anne Hedensted Steffensen who will speak at the Danish Church's New Year Dinner - the cost is GBP30 which includes dinner - please enroll on the Danish Church website.




CHRISTMAS PARTY
The traditional Christmas party will take place in the Church Hall at St Katherine's Precinct, NW1 4HH. Pastor Else Hviid and her husband have once again very kindly invited us to first join them for a drink in their home at 6.30pm. After this we'll enjoy the Danish delicacies from the kitchen of Poul and Dorte, and during the evening sing Danish and English Christmas carols and songs. Click heading for details.




VIKING EXHIBIT AT THE BRITISH MUSEUM
We are fortunate that Lone Britt Molloy, Head of Culture, at the Danish Embassy is arranging for us to have a private visit to the British Museum to hear a talk by Gareth Williams, in the Stevenson lecture theatre, and to see artefacts which will feature in the Museum's forthcoming major Viking exhibition.




FUNDRAISING DINNER WITH UFFE ELLEMANN-JENSEN
Former Foreign Minister Uffe Ellemann-Jensen speaks on his view of Denmark in a changing world at a fundraising dinner at the Danish Church. The talk is preceded by a concert with Clarinetist Lone Madsen & pianist Florian Uhlig. Click heading for details.

Dual Nationality - the final curtain?




ACROSS THE NORTH SEA CONFERENCE
Subtitled "Later Historical Archaeology in Britain and Denmark 1500-200 AD" it was organised by the City Museums of Odense and Copenhagen, the University of Southern Denmark and the British based Society for Post Medieval Archaeology (SPMA).




DANISH CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC CERAMICS

Cultural Connections CC was founded in 1998 by Birthe Fraser to promote Danish-Nordic Applied Arts in the UK. Her main annual exhibition in London is now at the Saatchi Gallery, but she recently had her fifth show of ceramic works at Barn Galleries near Henley-on-Thames, an idyllic country setting.




WEEKEND IN YORK
We have arranged an exciting weekend visit to the cathedral city of York, with a gala dinner on Saturday evening. Members of other Danish and Scandinavian societies have been invited to join us, so it promises to be an interesting and lively occasion. Click heading for details.

On a sunny Friday afternoon in early September 26 of us met in the college Chapel garden - we were pleased to see old friends and meet some new ones, as well as our knowledgeable and very friendly guide, Tim.
