• THE SOCIETY'S CHRISTMAS PARTY
Thursday 12th December 2013 - lunchtime
The Society's Christmas Party will take place in the Danish Church on Thursday, December 12th 2013. As you will remember we decided to have a Christmas lunch last year instead of the traditional evening party. The lunch attracted well over 40 members. In Council we are slgithly divided which format to choose, so your opinion would be welcome. for further information please do not hesitate to phone the Honorary Secretary on 01728 638 345.
• PHILIP SCHMIDT MADSEN - Distinguished Danish Organist
6.00pm Sunday, May 26th
Philip Schmidt Madsen, the distinguished Danish organist, will give two recitals in England late May. Firstly in St Michael's, one of the finest churches in Suffolk with the world famous Thamar organ dating back to C17. Secondly, on Tuesday, 28th May at 1.00pm in St Lawrence Jewry, Guildhall, London
• SOTHEBY'S EUROPEAN SALE
Thursday 23 May 2013 (on view Wed 22nd May)
Our contact at Sotheby's has kindly let us know that they have two wonderful paintings by Hammershoei coming up in their May sale in London. Both works are from private collections. They also have a very nice Michael Ancher, as well as a handful of lesser Danish works (Moensted, Ilsted etc.) Sotheby's would also be happy to show our members the paintings when they are on view. A good date would be Wednesday 22nd May 2013.
• VISIT TO CHURCHILL COLLEGE ARCHIVES
Tuesday 3rd September 2013
We have booked our visit to the Churchill College Archives containing the papers of Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher and John Major, as well as the College Art Collection. Lunch will be taken at the Moeller Centre within the grounds followed by a guided tour of the conference centre which has just won "Best UK Management Training Centre" for the third consecutive year. • RECEPTION IN THE AMBASSADOR'S RESIDENCE

H.E. The Danish Ambassador, Anne Hedensted Steffensen has kindly invited us to an Evening Reception in the Residence to meet our scholarship awardees. We are indeed greatly honoured that HRH The Duchess of Gloucester GCVO, Protector of our Scholarship Programme has accepted the Society's invitation to be present on this special occasion. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
We look forward to welcoming members to this year's AGM followed by refreshments. Dr Eva Papesh will be giving a short presentation about Dania, the new Danish/English School following official proceedings.

SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE NOW DUE
The subscription rate remains unchanged GBP15 for Individual Members and GBP20 for Family members. Subscription income funds nearly a third of the cost of scholarships granted by the Society each year and is thus an important revenue source for the Society. A Standing Order instruction form will be found under Membership and Membership Application Form. Thank you for your support.
VISIT TO THE ROYAL SCHOOL OF NEEDLEWORK
A guided, one and a half hour tour of the Royal School of Needlework which has its home within the walls of the magnificent Hampton Court. Lunch beforehand will be arranged in the cafeteria in the walled rose garden.
DRAPER'S HALL: DINNER & CONCERT
We are again being welcomed at Drapers' Hall for the first concert of the 2013 Concert Series. Please put the date in your diary. Further details to follow.
ANGLO-DANISH SOCIETY'S CHRISTMAS PARTY
Pastor Else Hviid and her husband have once again kindly invited us to join them for a drink in their home before enjoying traditional Danish Christmas delicacies in the Church Hall. During the lunch we will sing Christmas carols and songs.

Subtitled "Later Historical Archaeology in Britain and Denmark 1500-200 AD" it was organised by the City Museums of Odense and Copenhagen, the University of Southern Denmark and the British based Society for Post Medieval Archaeology (SPMA).

Cultural Connections CC was founded in 1998 by Birthe Fraser to promote Danish-Nordic Applied Arts in the UK. Her main annual exhibition in London is now at the Saatchi Gallery, but she recently had her fifth show of ceramic works at Barn Galleries near Henley-on-Thames, an idyllic country setting.
WEEKEND IN YORK
We have arranged an exciting weekend visit to the cathedral city of York, with a gala dinner on Saturday evening.
Members of other Danish and Scandinavian societies have been invited to join us, so it promises to be an interesting and lively occasion. Click heading for details.
