The Society's Objectives are:

  • to further the education of Danish students in Great Britain and of British students in Denmark;
  • to support, promote, render assistance and make donations to selected Danish charities;
  • to encourage members in literary, scientific and other educational studies and activities on  appropriate subjects and especially on those touching upon educational interests of Denmark and Great Britain.

In order to further these objectives the Scholarship committee of the Society meets annually to consider applications received from both Danish and British students.  Applications are assessed, approved by the Council, following which grants are made.

Membership...

The Society welcomes applications for membership.

Applicants should give the name of a member of the Society as a proposer or, failing that, a suitable personal reference. Applications for Corporate Membership are similarly welcome.

Current membership rates will be found on the membership page together with an application form. It greatly assists the finances of the Society if members are prepared to pay their subscription under Gift Aid.

The Anglo-Danish Society is a registered Charity, and was founded in
1924 with the encouragement of H.M. Queen Alexandra. It enjoys the
patronage of Her Majesty the Queen and Her Majesty the Queen of
Denmark. It has the active support of the Royal Danish Embassy
and a number of Danish and British companies.

It also seeks to maintain contact with other Anglo-Danish organisations for mutual benefit.

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester is the Protector of the Society's Scholarship Programme.

The Society publishes a quarterly newsletter "News & Reviews"
covering recent and forthcoming events likely to be of interest to
everyone with Anglo-Danish links.
